Earning Priority Club® Rewards Points Now Faster in Canada
IHG and Capital One Canada Launch Two New Reward Credit Cards
TORONTO and ATLANTA (Dec. 5, 2011) – Priority Club® Rewards, the fastest-growing and most preferred hotel loyalty program in the world, has partnered with Capital One to announce the release of two new loyalty credit cards for our members in Canada. The new Priority Club World MasterCard and Priority Club Platinum MasterCard from Capital One make it easier to earn Priority Club points faster with the added flexibility to earn points for non-hotel stays.
Now, members residing in Canada can earn points on everything they purchase with their choice of loyalty rewards credit card, including unlimited bonus points accrual for the life of the card and a generous first purchase bonus. Stays at any of the more than 4,500 IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) hotels worldwide will earn World cardholders five points and Platinum cardholders two points per dollar spent. Additionally, World card members will enjoy the perks of having Gold Elite Priority Club status for the life of their account, and all points earned through their card will count towards reaching Platinum Elite status.
“Consumer engagement with loyalty programs is at an all-time high. And, there has been a significant increase over the past 18 months in the number of consumer credit cards for travel rewards available,” said Don Berg, Vice President of Loyalty Programs and Partnerships, IHG. “We are excited to partner with Capital One to bring our members in Canada a competitive card that offers them the rewards privileges our research has showed us are meaningful to the way they spend and how they travel.”
Another significant feature of these new products is the cardholder’s ability to earn points on everything they purchase - with World cardholders earning two points for every dollar spent. When used at IHG Hotels, their ability to collect points more than doubles to five points for every dollar spent.
“We developed these cards with the intent to deliver a very high level of return for Canadian rewards seekers, said Simon Maycock, Vice President, Partnerships at Capital One Canada. “The rate at which cardholders can earn rewards is market leading, and by combining this feature with the industry’s best hotel program, we believe that this rewards card is a top contender in any category.”
